There are some things you can only understand by being there.
You can read about olive oil, study the harvest dates, look at acidity levels, compare polyphenol counts and speak to producers from a distance. But for me, the real learning began when I started travelling to the places where the finest oils are made.
What I Learned From Italy’s Olive Groves
The Olive Library began as a personal journey. I wanted to understand what makes an extra virgin olive oil genuinely exceptional, not just from a technical point of view but from a human one. I wanted to meet the people behind the oil, walk through the groves, see the mills, taste the oils at source and understand why certain places seem to produce something with such depth, purity and character.
That journey has taken me across Italy, through family farms, coastal groves and olive terraces shaped by weather, soil and generations of care. But it has also taken me further into the Mediterranean way of living, including time spent learning about Blue Zones and the habits that seem to sit quietly behind longer, healthier lives.
What struck me most was not one single secret. It was the consistency of the simple things.
In the places where people live well, food is not treated as an afterthought. Meals are built around quality ingredients. People eat with the seasons. They cook with care. They move naturally. They slow down. And, again and again, extra virgin olive oil appears as part of everyday life.
Not saved for special occasions. Not treated as a luxury to sit unopened on a shelf. Used daily.
That stayed with me.
Why High-Polyphenol Olive Oil Matters
When I visited producers, I became more and more interested in the oils that carried not only flavour but purpose. High-polyphenol oils. Early-harvest oils. Oils with that distinctive green intensity, bitterness and peppery finish that tell you something alive and powerful is present.
Polyphenols are naturally occurring compounds found in quality extra virgin olive oil. They are one of the reasons EVOO is so widely associated with the Mediterranean diet and with long-term wellbeing. They help protect the oil itself and have become part of the wider conversation around antioxidants, inflammation, cardiovascular health and healthy ageing.
But what I kept coming back to was this: the benefit of olive oil is not only in knowing about it. It is in using it.
From Insight to Ritual: The Olive Oil & Lemon Shot
That is where the idea for our Olive Oil & Lemon Shot came from.
I wanted to create something that made it easier to bring exceptional extra virgin olive oil into your daily routine. Something simple, measured and consistent. Something that took the quality we look for at The Olive Library and turned it into a small daily ritual.
Each bottle contains 20ml of high-polyphenol olive oil, co-crushed with fresh lemon. Not flavoured afterwards. Not made with artificial flavourings. The olives and lemons are crushed together, preserving the vibrant aroma of the fruit and giving the oil a brighter, smoother finish.
The lemon matters because it changes the experience. It lifts the oil. It makes the ritual feel fresher and easier to take, especially first thing in the morning. You still get the depth and character of the olive oil but with a clean citrus edge that makes it feel alive.
The format was important too.
Each 14-day box contains 14 individual bottles, one for each day. That means you do not have to measure anything, pour anything or think too much about it. You simply take one bottle as part of your morning routine, or at a time that suits you.
A Daily Ritual, Not a Quick Fix
For me, that is the key to wellbeing. Not complication. Not perfection. Consistency.
The more I travel, the more I see that health is often shaped by the things we repeat. The small decisions. The daily habits. The ingredients we choose again and again.
The Olive Oil & Lemon Shot is not about quick fixes. It is not about chasing trends. It is about returning to something ancient, natural and deeply rooted in Mediterranean living.
A small bottle. A simple ritual. A daily reminder that looking after yourself does not have to be difficult.
For me, this product brings together everything I have learned through The Olive Library: the importance of provenance, the value of high-quality extra virgin olive oil, the beauty of Italian craftsmanship and the quiet power of daily habits.
It is inspired by the groves, the producers, the mills and the Mediterranean way of life I have been fortunate enough to experience first-hand.
And more than anything, it is designed to help make exceptional olive oil part of everyday wellbeing.
